Does owning a Maserati really increase your chances of attracting love? Well, unfortunately for those who can’t afford one, it just might. A clinical research study conducted in 2008 took a group of male and female volunteers and measured their level of arousal while listening to different engines being revved. After listening to the engines of a Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati, and Volkswagen Polo, scientists measured the subjects testosterone levels which indicates positive arousal in humans. Their study confirmed what we already knew, but never wanted to believe. Across the board all test subjects, but most significantly women, showed an increase in testosterone levels while listening to the sounds of the super car engines. Conversely, females participants showed a reduced reaction to the underpowered commuter option.
Even more surprising: Women who stated that they had no interest in cars experienced the same reaction as those who didn’t. This points to a very instinctual appeal to the sounds of a luxury vehicle engine.
So guys, make sure to talk really loud the next time you and your new girlfriend are walking by a Maserati.
