Cables, Latches, Handles & Locks Information

Why are Cables, Latches, Handles & Locks Part Important

Many cars today come with compartments to place your stuff like luggage, groceries, children, or even your engine. Since no one wants their stuff to be stolen, spaces like the trunk and the hood need to be secured. Accessories like Cables, Latches, Handles, and Locks do just that. When they come together, these parts allow the owner of the car access to the spaces while keeping intruders out.

All doors that lock have latches which are small pieces that, when the door is closed, prevent it from opening again. To do so, a handle is required. In order to keep people out, most car handles have locks that require a key. For the hood and some trunks, cables are run from inside the car to the latch. Pulling the handle pulls on the cable which trips the latch.

Standard Ignition Lock Cylinder - This lock comes with two keys allowing you to lock your car and keep your stuff safe.

Dorman Hood Release Cable - This hood release cable allows the driver to open the hood from inside the car. In most cars, this is one of two latches found on hoods.
