Air bags and air bag components may be one of the most important parts of your interior body. For those who don’t know, air bags are a safety device inside your vehicle that deploy the second the vehicle is involved in a collision. The air bag is made of synthetic material, and inflates to the size of a pillow to provide more sustained protection for the driver. The first air bag system was designed in the 70’s but not until the late 80’s and early 90’s did we start to see more and more frontal air bag systems implemented into vehicle designs. More modern vehicles include 4 or more units, protecting not only the driver’s front side, but also the head and side of the body using side air bag deployment.

Air bag systems have decreased the amount of serious injuries in side and front collision. If you notice your warning light on, make sure you troubleshoot the problem immediately.
