          ABS Controllers Information

Why are ABS Controllers Part(s) Important

AKA: ABS Relay, ABS module, ABS unit, ABS replacement unit, CAB (Controller Anti-lock Brake), ECU (Electronic Control System),ABS pump (Actually another part of the ABS system)

The ABS Controller supports your Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), a complex network of subsystems that take over control of your brakes in a lock-up situation (when the wheels stop faster then the vehicle) to minimize skidding and maximize vehicle control. The ABS system pulses the brake pressure on and off to stop the vehicle faster than locking the brakes. At the same time, the ability to steer around danger is maintained when the wheels are kept spinning.

Maintaining this system of mechanical, electronic and hydraulic components takes the pressure off your brake system’s hardworking components such as brake pads, rotors and—the most abused member of the team—the tire.

The ABS controller is the brain of the modern braking system. This vital ABS module takes in copious amounts of information from various brake sensors and determines how much braking force to apply at each wheel to stop the vehicle in the shortest distance. That’s a big job that includes calculating when a wheel is stopping faster then the vehicle (skidding), releasing the brake pressure on the affected wheel and reapplying pressure until—if needed—the process is repeated.

When the ABS controller breaks down, the most blaring indication should be a dash light. This could take the form of a “ABS,” “Brakes” or “service vehicle soon” warning light. In most cases, the braking system will continue to function to some degree without the support of the ABS system. On older systems, the driver may have to diagnose the failure on their own. This could be a change in pedal pressure (often a hard pedal) or spasms in the braking system such as the brakes clenching and releasing randomly or at the wrong time.

Standard ABS Control Module Utilizing copper slug heat sinks for better heat dissipation and double wire bonds for better connections makes this replacement part meet and exceed all OE specifications.
