          Brake Rotors & Drums Information

Why are Brake Rotors & Drums Part(s) Important

Inside the wheels are the brute force parts of your vehicle’s braking system. The Rotors and Drums work with the pads and shoes to stop the wheels from turning which stops the vehicle. Choosing the proper rotors and drums is paramount to proper braking performance. Your vehicle and the specifics of that vehicle's responsibilities should be taken into account.

Original Equipment replacement rotors and drums are designed to give your vehicle the same braking performance as when the vehicle was new. But, if you have done anything to increase the performance of the vehicle, you should also upgrade your brake rotors and drums to improve braking performance. Likewise if you drive in the mountains or carry heavy loads you should upgrade your rotors and drums.

Rotors and drums wear down when pressed upon by the pads and shoes and they should be checked every six months for hot spots that develop from the heat and friction necessary for braking. Using upgraded rotors and drums can slow down the progress of deterioration in addition to increasing braking performance. Upgraded rotors and drums can also reduce heat which shortens the life of the parts and degrades their performance.

Squealing and grinding noises mean that it’s time for new pads or rotors. Squealing indicates worn brake pads, while grinding means that the brakes have ground through the wear indicators and into the rotor itself.

PowerStop Brake Pad & Rotor Kit - Performance Upgrade The rotors are precision drilled to dissipate heat while the pads are ceramic for low dust a premium performance.
