Relays, Sensors, Switches & Electronics Information

Why are Relays, Sensors, Switches & Electronics Part(s) Important

The Relays, Sensors, Switches and Electronics associated with your charging system are the interconnections that harness, apply and resupply the electricity needed to operate your entire vehicle. Short burst of current—needed for cranking the engine and initial spark—and long term current supply—needed to partition out electrical power to everything from the heater fan to the stereo—both rely on your vehicle’s relays, sensors, switches and electronics.

When alternating current comes out of your battery, it does so with little restriction. In order for it to power things—ranging from the starter motor which cranks your entire engine or your intermittent wind shield wipers which rely on pulsing current—an array of charging system components are needed.

This includes electrical relays and electrical switches which redirect and augment incoming electrical power to ensures proper power supply to a wide range of things. Both mechanical and electrical sensors feed information back to computers and sub-systems which, through the use of other electronic parts control and direct the flow of energy from your charging system.

If any of your vehicle’s relays, sensors, switches or electronics fail, it’s lights out- literally. The most common clue of a charging issue is a warning indicator flashing and your lights—headlights, dome light, etc—going dim. This could mean a bare wire or exposed relay/switch is making contact with a grounded surface or that a sensor or different electrical component simply needs to be replaced due to wear and tear.

Many of the your vehicle’s relays, sensors, switches and electronics can be easily accessed under the hood or in other compartments.

NOS Toggle Switch Perfect size and construction whether you need to trigger your boost or simply interrupt an electrical wire to install a vehicle-protection kill switch.

ACCEL Oxygen Sensor Designed to turn at precisely half the speed of your vehicle’s crankshaft, this O2 sensor is guaranteed to close your engine valves at just the right moment.
