The Distributor Cap and Rotor play a vital role in relaying the spark to the appropriate cylinder. Once the spark reaches the engine, it ignites the fuel. A well timed ignition system can make or break an engine's performance and efficiency.

The distributor cap sits on top of the distributor and has a central connection. Inside the cap is the distributor rotor that is driven by the internal shaft of the ignition distributor. As the electricity arcs between the distributor cap and rotor, it wears the contacts down lowering the efficiency and power of the engine. Fortunately they are fairly easy to replace and the parts are cheap.
