Why are AC Compressor & Clutch Part(s) Important

The AC Compressor and Clutch is an integral part of your vehicle's Air Conditioning and Heating system which keep your interior at a comfortable temperature. The AC system is in charge of cooling air and circulating it through your cabin. It does through a series of pumps, condensers, fans, and a ventilation system it shares with the heater. In this inter-connected system every part is absolutely necessary, especially the AC Compressor and Clutch.

The AC Compressor is often referred to as the "heart" of your A/C system. The compressor pressurizes your refrigerant causing it to rapidly cool the surrounding air. The compressor has an electromagnetic clutch which engages and disengages when your AC system is turned on or off. When the clutch engages the engine belt begins to spin and provides power.

Losing either of these components would cause very poor or no cooling and will often make noise. A bad compressor or compressor clutch should be replaced in order to provide a proper cooling experience in your vehicle.
