The Intake Manifold mixes the proper amount of fuel and air for the best combustion possible. If it isn't working properly, your engine could be burning excess fuel and not running efficiently. So make sure your intake manifold is up to par for the best performance along with regular maintenance to the air intake system.

The intake manifold takes the air that has come through the air filter and splits it so that each cylinder has its own air flow. On some models with sequential fuel injection this is where the fuel injectors are attached so that each cylinder gets a precisely measured amount of fuel. Failure of the air intake manifold affects the combustion ratio for each cylinder, potentially leading to mised cylinder combustion, misfires and backfires.
