The engine's cooling system is series of tubes send coolant around the engine with the purpose of absorbing the heat and rushing the wasted energy away. Newer engines also cool the oil via the engine oil cooler as another means of keeping your engine cool.

Engine oil coolers are commonly found on newer cars. These are similar in design to a coolant radiator except smaller. In some cases, they are part of the main radiator at the front of the car. The oil pump sends hot oil through the cooler where air flow over the fins cools the oil before sending it back to the engine. This system is not as efficient as the regular cooling system and is only designed to be supplemental.
