          Fan Clutch Information

Why are Fan Clutch Part(s) Important

The Fan Clutch is important to your car's cooling system. About 66% of the energy produced by your engine is wasted as heat energy and must be dissipated to prevent overheating. The engine's cooling system is series of tubes send coolant around the engine with the purpose of absorbing the heat and rushing the wasted energy away. The fan clutch helps to cool the coolant moving through your cooling system.

In some rear or all wheel drive vehicles, the fan is mechanically driven by being bolted to one of the pulleys. The clutch engages more fully as the temperature increases to provide more air flow over the radiator as needed. Depending on the model the clutch is controlled by a bi-metal strip or electrically by a signal from the engine.
