Why are Oil Pans Part(s) Important

The Engine Oil Pan is one of the few access points between your external engine components and the internal engine. So while all the magic of combustion driven mechanical revolutions takes place out of sight, the external engine components provide necessary access to the internal engine.

The engine block peeks through at various points, one being where the expansion plugs are pressed in. Other key points for the external engine are: at the motor mounts where the motor is harnessed into the chassis; the oil pan and oil filter housing are accessible for maintenance, as are the various covers- timing cover, valve covers etc. In between those components and the engine block, you’ll find the various gaskets, seals and O-rings that protect your internal mechanics from outside contamination. The oil pan is an integral part of that system.
