Why are Fuel Filters & Strainers Part(s) Important
AKA: Inline Filter, Fuel Bowl, Fuel Strainer, Fuel Pump Filter, Fuel Screen
Fuel Filters and Strainers make sure only clean fuel is being supplied to your engine’s cylinder chamber. Once in the cylinder chamber, the fuel is mixed with air, compressed and burned to provide power your vehicles engine. It does this by storing fuel in a Fuel tank and transporting it via a fuel pump. The fuel must pass through fuel lines and a fuel filter before being fed into either a carburetor or fuel injector. In most cases the fuel will pass through mulitiply filters or screens; most in-tank fuel pumps have a built in fuel pump strainer contained within the fuel pump hanger. Carbureted systems will sometimes house a filter within the carburetor itself. And both systems may use either OEM or after market in-line fuel filters. Every component of your fuel system, from your gas cap to your fuel filters, is an important part of how your engine operates.
Your fuel system needs to be refilled frequently. For this reason, your fuel tank is often exposed to particles that can pollute your fuel supply and cause damage to your fuel system parts. To prevent these particles from damaging your fuel system or engine, a fuel filter or fuel strainer cleans the fuel before it is used.
Fuel filters and strainers should be replaced according to the manufacturer’s guidelines found in your vehicles owner’s manual. Failure to replace fuel filters regularly can cause sputtering or failure to start, and at worse can damage other fuel system or engine components.
Beck/Arnley Fuel Filter – This high quality fuel filter is a direct fit OE replacement and includes everything needed to install.
Bosch Fuel Pump Strainer – This fuel pump strainer keeps debris from entering your fuel pump and causing damage to your fuel system.
