The O2 Sensor plays a part in your vehicle’s emissions control system--a complex and overarching network of pumps, valves, filters, control systems, sensors, ventilation/ recycling components, and electronics used to limit your cars exhaust of toxic byproducts. However, these tight tolerances require proper functioning components including the oxygen sensor.

The oxygen sensor detects how much oxygen is in the exhaust gases. This helps the engine control computer determine whether too much or too little fuel is being injected into the cylinder. The computer will then adjust the amount of fuel injected to maximize power and efficiency. The O2 sensor requires a special socket to safely remove and install it.
