The power steering hoses are the conduits that carry hydraulic pressure - through power steering fluid - back and forth to the power steering pump. One of the power steering hoses is commonly known as the pressure hose and its charge is to transfer the force down to the steering box or rack and pinion (depending on your model). Once there the fluid and force needs to be cycled back- a second power steering hose - a return hose- takes care of that to ensure the cycle.

Power steering hoses are distinguished from other hoses, and similar to break hoses, in the fact that the power steering fluid they contain is under tremendous force.
