Why are Ball Joints Part(s) Important
The Ball Joints support your suspension system, one of the most important and customizable systems of the modern automobile. Whatever your auto scene, the right suspension components are absolutely critical to achieving your ambitions for your vehicle. Hard parts like bearings, bushings and armatures need to be understood, inspected for movement and/or rigidity and—if necessary—replaced or upgraded. Performance parts are so plentiful for the suspension system that whatever course you plan on putting your vehicle through and whatever stance and ride you think ideal, you can achieve it—it’s just a matter of deciding what you want from your suspension. Whatever stage of daily upkeep, restoration or modification you’re in, your ball joints need to be up to snuff and here’s why…
The ball joint serves as the pivot point for the front control arm. It is a major contact point and critical place to inspect when checking over the suspension components. The best way to check your ball joints is to jack the car up independent of the control arm (everything connected to the wheel) so that the wheel is hanging in the air—don’t forget your jackstands for safety! Once independent of the ground, place your hands at six and 12 ( bottom and top) of the wheel. Push and pull back and forth, if there is any movement in and out at the wheel, then your ball joints may not be road-worthy much longer. To confirm you can have someone else push the tire in and out and watch the ball joint to see if they are not holding the control arm steady.
Moog Ball Joint Smooth durable surfaces provide carefree service and extend the life of this ball-joint design. Contamination is also prevented, elevating this style over traditional designs.
Beck/Arnley Suspension Ball Joint Precise construction and quality materials make this replacement balljoint an ideal fit when your OE equipment fails.
