Hard parts like bearings, bushings and armatures need to be understood, inspected for movement and/or rigidity and—if necessary—replaced or upgraded. Performance parts are so plentiful for the suspension system that whatever course you plan on putting your vehicle through and whatever stance and ride you think ideal, you can achieve it—it’s just a matter of deciding what you want from your suspension. Whatever stage of daily upkeep, restoration or modification you’re in, your bushings and bump stops need to be up to snuff and here’s why…

Bushings are located at many points throughout your suspension, collectively they limit the amount of internal suspension movement that can take place. Some movement may be necessary for flexibility and ride comfort but if too much movement and control is sacrificed, steering can become compromised; not to mention, undesired movement in the suspension leads to worn out parts and breakdowns.

Bump stops on the other hand limit the up and down travel. While coil springs and shock absorbers dictate how much movement your platform will have, the bump stops are mounted to parts of the frame to ensure a maximum travel distance. Any movement greater will cause the bump stops to come into play - the effected area will literally “bump” (or bottom-out) against the preformed rubber bump stop and “stop” from traveling any further.
