The coil spring is a massive helix coil capable of supporting thousands of pounds and transferring impact gradually from the road to the suspension system. The coil spring traditionally sits in between the the upper and lower control arm and is assisted by a shock absorber. The leaf springs are usually found in the back of the vehicle and support the weight of the body and any cargo. They mount in between the body and axle via the use of leaf spring shackles.
