Why are External Transmission Part Important
While the internal components of the transmission are vital to its operation, without the supporting cast of External Transmission parts your car would go nowhere. These external components do everything from allowing the driver to control various aspects of the transmission to keeping it cool and lubricated. The parts vary in size and importance, but without them all your car would grind to a halt.
All of the external parts do a very unique and specific job. It is the Bearings and Bushings job to keep parts spinning freely. Moderator valves are important to older transmissions without computers as the valves regulate when older automatic transmissions shift. Without parts like the shifters, linkages, and other cables, the driver wouldn't be able to control the transmission while parts like hoses and lines, along with the transmission coolers, keep the transmission in tip-top mechanical condition.
There can be a wide array of consequences if an external transmission part goes bad depending on the primary purpose of that part. It may be the inability to change gear or something more serious like the complete disintegration of the transmission if the part is responsible for lubrication or cooling. Rest easy though: simple maintenance can keep most transmission problems at bay.
