          Internal Transmission Information

Why are Internal Transmission Part Important

If it weren't for Internal Transmission engineering, you would have to choose between having enough torque to start quickly and being able to go highways speeds. Thankfully, modern transmissions allow us to do both. But the cost of this convenience is an expensive and complicated transmission that houses multiple gears and clutches.

The transmission innards operate because of things like bearings and bushings that keep all of the pieces spinning while reducing friction and energy lost. Inside of the transmission are a series of gears, shafts, and other internal parts that engage and disengage the proper gear. Automatic transmissions have a few extra parts compared to their manual counterparts such as the valve body that houses the apparatus that regulates what gear engages in depending on the speed of the engine and the road speed.

When one of these parts goes wrong, the results can be both spectacular and costly. Due to having that many small and fragile parts in such close contact with each other, the failure of one part can trigger a chain reaction that requires removing and opening the transmission to fix; this is why a twenty dollar part can cost hundreds of dollars to repair. For those who are more dexterous, a transmission rebuild kit is a valid option to repair an otherwise inoperative transmission.
