A transmission valve body is useful for older transmissions that are not computer controlled. Using differences in pressure created by the motion of the gears, the valve body houses a valve that triggers the changing of gear. When the pressure on one side of the valve raises considerably more than the other side, the vacuum created trips the valve and shifts into the higher or lower gear. Because this is a moving part, unfortunately, this valve can stick in older cars and create rough and ill-timed shifts.
